It's a good thing my sons got this photo op with Mitt Romney in 2007, because starting tomorrow he'll be flanked by Secret Service Agents.
All my kids take an avid interest in politics and current events. I think home schooling has had a hand in that.
I can't help but wonder how the security situation works when the Romneys go to church or the temple.
Maybe they assign the Mormon Secret Service guys to hover around. They kind of look like missionaries, but I think they pack something other than scriptures. When my son was serving his mission in Moldova (a former Soviet satellite) he was often mistaken for an American CIA agent.
That is a very cool picture to have...and I heard that tonight about the SS guys who will be following him around, a good first step! ;D
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I were talking about that the other day. She thinks the SS guys would have to be LDS if he goes to the temple. I can't imagine how he's going to do that. (Look at me. I'm talking about him as if he were really going to be President. IhopeIhope!) She lives in DC and has heard talk that they would have to shut down the whole temple for him when and if he visited there. And if he went, SS would have to do a sweep of the whole building before he even got there. And home teachers??? Oh man. I can't wait to see how this is all going to happen. Go Mitt Go. :)
ReplyDeleteMany SS men are LDS, chosen for their integrity, second languages, and clean records. You'd be surprised at how many LDS men and women have worked in the White House, on Air Force One, Marine One (the helicopter) and other high places. We lived 8 years in the Washington DC area and knew some of them.
